In 1944, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose established the Azad Hind Bank in Rangoon, Burma, to fund the war against the British, The aim was to print Indian currency notes to manage contributions from Indians worldwide. In the 1980s, Ram Kishore Dubey, a retired contractor, found one of these rare notes in his grandfather's Ramayana. His grandfather, Praagilal, a dedicated member of the Indian National Army (INA), received this note as a reward from Netaji for his covert work in the Bundelkhand region. The note, valued at one lakh, featured Bose's photograph, a pre-independence map of India, and the bold inscription 'Bank of Independence'.
